"The 1889 Grand Tour Travel Album" documents an 80-day, 11,900-mile 1889 European tour by four young, unmarried women: Cora, Harriet, June and "Myself," the album's photographer, caption writer, and curator. Sailing from New York to England on the SS Celtic, they traveled to Scandinavia, across Europe, and back via England to New York on the SS Adriatic. The album holds both commercial souvenir prints and very early Kodak snapshots taken with Myself's Kodak #1, filled with views of cityscapes, buildings, candid snapshots, life on White Star liners, and more. As for "Myself", her name is uncertain; the album holds all the clues.

This facsimile edition was produced with high-resolution scans from the original album, on heavy stock, with open-flat wire binding. It is a companion and supplement to the 2017 PHSNE Journal #175, where photographic historian and author Ron Polito presented his in-depth research on this unique album, its photographs, ships, the travelers, the itinerary and other details. © 2018
